Be A Body is stoked to bring noise-rock duo JOHN to The Shacklewell Arms on Saturday 13th January. Support comes from one of Hull's most intense creations No Nothings & Shady Gringos.
Following the release of their album God Speed In The National Limit on the 20/10/17 via Pets Care Records, Crystal Palace-based duo JOHN make their debut show appearance at The Shacklewell Arms via Be A Body to kick off the new year. Taking the mundane spirit of their name as a manifesto, JOHN (appropriately formed of two johns) offer a deadpan approach that has become the recognisable force of their live performance, with an almost mechanical solidity rare for only two bodies. Introspective lyrics and spoken word are just as important influences as the punk, noise and rock genres they might otherwise comfortably fit into. This tight balance between content and volume has lead them on to stages with the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, USA Nails and Idles, as well garnering notable support from writer/actor Simon Pegg, XFM DJ John Kennedy and BBC 6 Music. Hot on the heels of the debut album, the duo have just returned to Bear Bites Horse Studio in East London with producer Wayne Adams (Big Lad/Death Pedals) to record a double side A side single for the renowned Too Pure Singles Club - mastered at none other than Abbey Road Studios and available at Toopure.com.
