TIN : Celia Hempton Solo Show – Opening Friday 2nd March

Posted February 17, 2012

TIN describes a painter’s landscape of ancient ruin, of modern ruin and fluorescence breached concrete. Saturated colours suck oily tropical air, then exhale tinny oxides. A syrupy Codeine neon haze ruptured by a teeth on styrofoam crunch.

Hempton has exhibited solo shows in 2011 at Southard Reid, London; The Wolstenholme Space, Liverpool and previously at Contemporary Art Projects, London. Selected group exhibitions include SV12 at Studio Voltaire curated by Mike Nelson and Jenni Lomax; The Perfect Nude at Wimbledon College of Art curated by Phillip Allen and Dan Coombs; This Matter at The Royal Standard, Liverpool; Easyjetsetters curated by Lucy Stein at The Forgotten Bar, Berlin; Riff Raff, Q, London; Mermaids vs Unicorns at i-20 Gallery, New York; St Mungo and Me, Lightbox Gallery, Los Angeles. Her work will be included in Ruby, at Gallery Vela in London, curated by Eddie Peake.
