Sonic Cathedral and Bad VIBRATIONS team up for the first time to bring White Manna across the Atlantic.

WHITE MANNA

“White Manna hail from California, where they enjoy a friendship and share a following with Carlton Melton, a band similarly dismissive of any part of being in a band that doesn’t revolve around the swampiness of their sound. But White Manna are not actually as meandering nor as feedback-laden as The Melton, with a leanness that has more in common with the more accessible and famous Black Angels and Dead Meadow. Indeed, the artwork for White Manna’s album is nearly identical to that for Dead Meadow’s Old Growth. But, like so many of these bands, homage and a soulful kind of imitation is the basis of their existence. And also like so many of these bands, in this they succeed spectacularly.” – The Quietus

THE HOMOSEXUALS formed in 1978, from the ashes of The Rejects (who’d played with The Damned, Wire, Generation X, The Jam, Eater, 999, and Sham 69 on a number of occasions in 1976/77). The Rejects broke up after their gigs began to routinely descend into violence, lessening their appeal to venues and PA hire companies. Also, for frontman Bruno Wizard, the name “The Rejects” was too deeply embedded in what he regarded as “the new conformity of punk”.

NATURAL CHILD

“Newspaper man can’t understand/ Try to talk about what kind of dude I am,” sing the co-frontmen of Natural Child, Seth Murray and Wes Traylor, on Hard in Heaven‘s opening track, “Laid, Paid, and Strange”. In my own defense as said “newspaper man”, it’s my job to talk about what kind of dudes they are, and I’d say they’re rock ‘n’ rollers who want some cash, sex, and weed (and I’d be right, as that first track freely admits to all of the above).

Odd Box Presents:

Chips For The Poor

First emerging in 2005, Chips For The Poor have been treading an idiosyncratic path ever since. With a clutch of amazing singles (check out the hypnotic ‘Fistula’ for a starting point, our favourite SINGLE of 2012, natch) over the course of their ‘history’. Operating in a hinterland between weirdo pop and out-there drone rock.
